TILTILow cost level detection instruments The TILTI is a simple level switch designed for use in high level detection. It contains a robust mercury tilt switch in a 2mm thick steel tube. The TILTI is fully potted to stop moisture from entering the device. The angle of the TILTI is set at 15 degrees & it will tilt in any direction. It is designed for installation in silos to detect a high level. The instrument normally hangs down in the silo using its own weight to stop the device from switching. It is in a normally closed state when hanging down because the two contacts are covered with the mercury. When the material rises, it causes the mercury in the switch to move away from one of the contacts creating an open circuit. The TILTI can be connected to a PLC, directly to a motor or connected to the Tilt Master, a microprocessor based control unit. The TILTI can be connected to other equipment due to the fact that the Tilt Master has a relay contact rating of 250VAC 8 Amp. The Tilt Master has a delay & a hold circuit to stop spurious errors. The Tilt Master contains a set of LED’s to indicate the power, tilt & the relay response. The delay & hold timers are setup with the use of two potentiometers. There is also a link to provide a high or low failsafe condition. |
